M2X is rich in Cr and N. It is mostly determined by the ratio of V and N. And few researchers claim that the presence of this precipitate depends on how much N is available after having combined with V. In this case the extra available N combines with Cr.
As also can be noted, when the matrix gets saturated with W, Laves phase starts precipitating.
