Senior academics from Portugal visited Darwin College during September 2004. The delegation included Engineer Artur da Silvo Pinto, Professor Irene Montenegro (Chemistry), Professor Narciso Garcia (Mathematics), Dr Maria dos Anjos (Physics), Dr Caludia Henriques (Mathematics) and Dr Adriana Mines (Physics). They were looked after by Chester White and Peter Brindle.
Darwin College has long had a cultural and academic association with Portugal. Apart from the enjoyment of port, the Darwin Choir and Boat Club have both performed in Portugal. There are approximately ten Portugese students currently studying in Darwin.
