Time at the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore

The campus at the IISc is filled with exotic trees, flowers and "wild life" (birds, insects, monkeys, ...). It forms an oasis in the garden city of Bangalore. The whole place is designed for peace and learning; it is perfectly safe to walk alone in the middle of the night. I stayed in the guest house and had a large office in the Mechanical Engineering Department.

The Institute was founded in 1900 by Tata; the statue below is a memorial to him. The land was donated by the Maharaja of the region.
