Hector Pous Romero: 35 years

Dear Hector,

When you joined us for research, you captured the essence of Cambridge as a place of scholarship and friendship. Through your work, you demonstrated that it is possible to be misled by data that are overly interpreted. In doing so, you explained phenomena that were previously impossible to understand. Your genius was matched by your modesty - I am proud of the knowledge that you created.

But there are other things to note. You and Andrea brought joy to us with your wedding and the million holidays that you took together. These are archived for ever, both in our memories, and of course on the web of knowledge.

Hector - at 35, you are younger than 36. In fact, most normal people celebrate 21 (coming of age) or 30 (still some hope left), although 40 is the point of no return. But you are not normal, you are special, to all of us. Many, many congratulations - and what a wonderful excuse to enjoy life.
