UK-China Steel Symposium, July 2018


The symposium was held at the University of Birmingham, organised by Professors Hanshan Dong (Birmingham University) and Hongbiao Dong (Leicester University). There were about 180 participants, including staff from the Chinese Embassy in London.

The symposium also had attendants from other countries, and in addition, a few papers on less advanced materials such as high-entropy alloys.

A new association of British Professors of Chinese origin was also announced. Lin Jianguo, President of ABCP, is quoted to have said that ABCP's vision is to build a long and solid bridge between the UK and China, and promote Sino-UK collaborations in the fields of arts, economics, science & technology, medicine and education. There are about 500 Professors of Chinese origin in the UK across a wide range of disciplines.
