The Phase Transformations and Complex Properties Research Group (PT Group) undertook a 91 mile bicycle journey from Oxford to Cambridge, for fun, and to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.
There were donations received from Iraq, Eire, Japan, South Korea, Germany, Finland, France, The Netherlands, Sweden, Spain, Switzerland, Mexico, USA, UK (and a Hamster). As a result, a total of 1518 GBP was raised, which we were told is 6% of the total for the event. Many, many thanks to all the donors.

Mathew stayed overnight in Oxford to be ready for the race on the next day. This is his bike |

The rest of us took the coach on the day, from the University Sports Centre in Cambridge, at 6 a.m. to go to Oxford. The Sports Centre is next to the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy |

The first stop, at the 50 mile marker. A lunch of plain bread and coffee. This was after a gruelling ride over seemingly never-ending hills. |
