Sendai City

Sendai is a city of approximately 1 million inhabitants, in the northern part of the main island of Honshu. Tohoku University has several campuses throughout the city, as do a number of other universities and technical institutions. The science and engineering campus is on the top of a hill covered in trees (Aobayama: green leaf mountain) and the site of the former Sendai castle, built by Date Masamune, is halfway up this hill.
