Purpose

Provides dilatometric data on the transformation of austenite during continuous cooling at different (constant) cooling rates, for a chemically segregated steel and its homogenised equivalent. The homogenised steel was heat treated at 1200 oC for 48 hours in order to minimise concentration gradients.

Description

The tar file contains two parts:

austenite.continuous.cooling.comps contains composition data on the steels used, the percentage of the steel for which this composition is applicable and the cooling rate employed.

Column 1 contains the ID number.

Columns 2-4 contain chemical composition data in weight percent.

Column 5 contains the percentage of the steel for which this composition is applicable.

Column 6 contains the (constant) cooling rate applied in degrees celsius per minute.

austenite.continuous.cooling.data contains dilatometric data on the continuous cooling of the steels. It is in four sections of three columns each.

Column 1 contains temperature in degrees celsius.

Column 2 contains the dilatation in mm.

Column 3 contains the time in seconds.

The first row of each section contains the ID number.

File austenite.continuous.cooling.info contains an ASCII text version of this explanation.
