Equipment used in ESRF Experiments

The photographs below have been provided by Howard Stone. They illustrate the thermomechanical simulator designed for use in the path of an X-ray beam line at the European Synchrotron Research Facility (ESRF) in Grenoble. The sample is steel, 1.5 by 1.5 mm cross-section and around 2 cm in length.
